Mexicans in Oregon
Mexican immigrants have been coming to Oregon for years, and they fit well into life in the Northwest. The Mexican culture values family, church and hard work — just like the European pioneers who came here a century and more ago.
You can find Mexican restaurants now in just about every Oregon town, but Woodburn, which is along Interstate 5 south of Portland, probably has the greatest concentration of Mexican immigrants and, as a result, the greatest Mexican food in the state.
But we’re also fond of our local Mexican restaurant, Los Cabos, on Oregon Avenue in Creswell. Good food, friendly service, and no one laughs (at least to our faces) when we try to practice our Spanish.
