The coast for Memorial Day weekend

We got over to Florence for the weekend, to one of our favorite restorative hangouts — the River House Motel. There, after dinner at Mo’s, we camped out in an upstairs room, smelled the ocean air and listened to the sound of the river water lapping below our balcony all night.

On Saturday we headed off to Sea Lion Caves, and updated that article on The Real Oregon with some new photos. We also checked out the man-eating plants at Darlingtonia, and will post soon about that.

The Real Oregon, the blog

A blog? The Real Oregon has become a blog?

As of May 18, we’ve become a blog — at least in software format. In geek speak, we’ve abandoned the static html and php pages we were creating in DreamWeaver and have converted the site to WordPress, a delightfully flexible software base that’s designed for creating blogs. It works by storing the site’s content in a MySQL database that’s managed by PHP.

Do you care about this? Of course not.

Even if we’re using blog software, the Real Oregon is not a typical blog. We will never write about what the cat did today, or what happened on the way to the grocery store.

We promise.
